STRATEGIC BASEBALL SIMULATOR
While not a tabletop baseball game, I felt the need to write a few words about the Strategic Baseball Simulator (SBS). SBS is a very nice freeware baseball game. The game is very simple to play, makes nice stat files and box scores, allows you to easily create your own teams, and it is statistically accurate. You can go through the game play by play, or set it to simulate an entire baseball season which will only take a few minutes. The game has also included the option to normalize pitching and hitting for different seasons and also takes into account ball park effects.
This small baseball simulator is quick-playing and has as many options as several of the commercially available games such as APBA and Strat-O-Matic. I use SBS and prefer it over APBA and Strat-O-Matic. While SBS is not as thorough a simulator as the expensive Diamond Mind Baseball (best simulator available), I find SBS to be an extremely enjoyable game to play. Couple all the great SBS features with it's price tag (free) and you have one great baseball simulator that can go head to head with most commercial games. If you are looking for a good computer baseball game, I recommend that you give the free Strategic Baseball Simulator computer game a try as I am sure you will be pleased.
